Westrex, born of Western Electric, the equipment division of AT&T (Back before the U.S. Government screwed over the best corporation in history.) created the Todd-AO sound system in cooperation with a new company named AMPEX. The giant VU meters are shown to scale. They were rear projected images of standard meters.
